"To find success, it's always an issue for us to seek highly qualified employees," says Heinrich Juritsch, Managing Director of LTE Austria. "That's why we emphasise on training them in our company. Regarding train drivers, an average of four to six aspirants per year attend classes at the state-certified training center of our "mother", Graz Köflacher Bus & Bahn GesmbH". Florian Münzer, HR specialist in the LTE-group, outlines it as follows: “Theory is being taught in Graz, practical skills are being acquired on our state-of-the-art locomotives.”
After an aptitude test by the Board of Trustees for Road Safety, either a completed apprenticeship or high school diploma is a prerequisite before (finishing about 12 months of training and passing the exam) you're allowed to master more that 10,000 hp. LTE covers the costs for the education and in return obliges the graduates to loyalty to the company for three years. But that shouldn't be difficult, because "our company agreements are based on the desire for collegial cooperation that keeps our best in the team on track, so to speak: High levels at all levels...", says Heinrich Juritsch.
With currently 65 locomotives and 12 affiliated companies in Europe, LTE-group is (from an Austrian perspective) one of the largest private railways for freight transport. The transport volume 2021 was at around 7.5 million tons.
