At the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Future-Tournament in Ios (GRE), the Klinger sisters defeated the number two seeded Slovenian duo Tjasa Kotnik/Tajda Lovsin in three sets, after knocking the top seeded Poles Katarzyna Kociolek and Marta Lodej out of the competition in the semifinals - thus achieving their first gold medal after many top placings. “We were already third and second on the world tour, but finally having gold hanging around your neck is an indescribable feeling. After the mixed results at the last tournaments we really wanted to show what we can do this time, and went all-in in every game. Of course, we are super happy that this courage to take more risk has paid off right away”, Dorina and Ronja Klinger rejoiced about their first gold medal of this beach volleyball season, after finishing fourth in Madrid (ESP) and fifth in Klaipeda (LTU).
The Klinger sisters proved well accommodated to the challenging external conditions: "It was very windy throughout the tournament, so the two-month training session in Rio de Janeiro in similar conditions helped us a lot. This time our fighting spirit and mindset were one hundred percent right – we can be proud of that and build on it at the next tournaments.”
In the course of the coming weeks, the newly crowned Future winners will have the opportunity to prove their current top form at the next level, as the duo from the 1st Baden Beach Volleyball Club will take part at the Challengers in Espinho (POR) and Morocco - successfully as we hope. Like last year, the fans in Austria are looking forward to the Klinger's home tournament, the A1 CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup from August 2nd to 7th at the Heumarkt in Vienna.
The LTE-group team, counting several hundred people, is happy for them and of course hopes that future medals will continue to shine in gold rewarding for the challenges of the next few days.
