"To become a teacher studying mathematics wasn't the right thing after all," Alex remembers, "so I switched to geography and I was already earning money jobbing at the state government while I was working on my master's degree." However, he couldn't get a permanent job offer there, so he ended up as a dispatcher at LTE in Graz on the advice of his brother, who had already taken a similar path. “I was also able to complete my studies at LTE, and when the time came, Andreas Mandl offered me a position in planning and traffic management. It was spot on to accept that, because after just one year I was offered managing my own small team,” he proudly remembers his early years. "LTE is characterized by its constant growth, both in number of sister companies and in fleet-size to be coordinated. This requires precise, operational and international locomotive planning, which was spiced up in the past two years by the challenges of the pandemic,” he recalls. "Now traffic is coming back and we have to be flexible and precise in dealing with the great demand on the market."

Sounds like a 24/7 job? "On the contrary: We have even benefited from Corona in this respect. The mix of office presence and home office works great for everyone. This enabled us to save time and money and ultimately confirmed that a good mixture of personal and TEAMS meetings increases efficiency and improves communication. A personal example: My partner is a nurse with differing work shifts. We have managed to coordinate ourselves perfectly, so there is enough time for our family besides work.”

Summary: Docking at LTE definitely makes sense. Bright minds grow into excellent positions on the job. Secure working conditions allow you to plan your life in a relaxed manner and an individual organization of working creates a satisfactory work-life balance. "Without any worries I can devote myself to the renovation of our recently acquired house, to my son, but to my Triumph Speedmaster as well, cruising not only Styrian roads..."
