“Two locomotives of the EuroDual series are being delivered these days and will soon go into service after a short training session for our locomotive drivers,” reports Alexander Moik, “admiral” of the constantly expanding LTE fleet, who, together with his colleagues coordinates the deployment of over 100 locomotives in the individual countries. “We have currently planned the two EuroDuals for coal and coke transport, as well as biodiesel and grain transport in Germany from the Czech Republic.”
Two Euro9000 will come into operation in spring 2024. An extensive training program has currently been completed for these locomotives, where the participating train drivers were able to develop their know-how directly on the loco. The Euro9000 will initially be responsible for grain transport, which is taken over by LTE at the Austrian/Hungarian border, where their route continues westwards, for example to Neuss, Stuttgart and the Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
“We value both types because of their power, which makes it possible to transport even heavy and correspondingly long trains with just one locomotive and of course it offers the possibility of running “wirelessly” thus covering un-electrified routes as well as last-mile services ", Moik adds, pointing out the economic efficiency and basic configuration of the Euro9000 for six European countries.
As always, the designers of LTE-group, Barus Design, ensure that the good looks are not compromised despite all the technical details. At first glance, you can't only recognize the selected color scheme (associated with the grain being transported), but also the wink when the viewer is invited to hum along to “Over The Grainbow” like for example with Judy Garland.
